There are so many animals in it. Even human doesn’t know about them. But when talk about bears, they are huge and fluffy animals. From bears, Koala bears are small ones when compare to big bears. Their scientific name is Phascolarctos cinereus. Koala bears were born place is Australia, and they are Arboreal Herbivorous Marsupial animals. These kinds of bears are found in coastal areas of the mainland’s eastern and southern regions and living in Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria, and South Australia. Koala has a large round head, tailless body, more oversized fluffy ears and nose like a spoon. Their body weight is approximately 4 – 15 kg, and their body length is 60 – 85 cm. The Colour of fur is changed according to where they live/are born. But usually, their colour range is silver-grey to chocolate brown. When talking about the Koala bear’s body, there is something special thing. As per the researchers, they found that Koala bears have fingerprints like a human. Let’s know about that.

As a human, we all have fingerprints in our hands. Do you know what the reason behind having fingerprints is? They are naturally built to improve grip. Not only that, they help to enhance the touch perception of the human. Because of that, we can pick a different kinds of things. According to the researchers, Koala bears have fingerprints like humans. Researchers belie that Koala has the exact reason for having fingerprints in their hands /legs. The Koala fingerprints and human fingerprints are closely similar.

Here are some incidents that prove Koala bears have fingerprints like a human.

  • In 1975, there was a crime scene that is unsolved. The place is Ape houses at London and Twycross Zoos. The target of the criminals’ is not human. They were animal-like Koala bears. This incident has become the most significant issue because British police cannot find the real criminal behind that. This crime scene became a problem to the country as well. Because of that police of London (British police) did their best to find the culprit behind this. They found some fingerprints as well. But they couldn’t find the honest lawbreaker. For the reason that they checked all the fingerprints of those animals and funnily British police didn’t find any criminal from hose animals. The police state that they took this operation partly because half and unclear fingerprints were from the animals. Department of London police fingerprint agent Steve Haylock expressed that if someone gave them fingerprints of bears/marsupial without telling them it was not from humans, they never could find it was not a human. From this incident, we can identify that Koala bears have fingerprints.
  • All the police stations use fingerprints as evidence to find a suspect. Police in Australia is also using this method. The University of Adelaide is situated in Australia. In that place, there is a biological anthropologist and forensic scientist called Maciej Henneberg. Before he arrived at this university, he was in South Africa. He came to Adelaide to check whether Koala bears have fingerprints like humans; for that, Henneberg went to Urimbirra Wildlife Park near the University of Adelaide to investigate. Henneberg observed that there are fingerprints in that place, and he checked. Later, Maciej Henneberg called his colleagues Chris Leigh and Kosette Lambert and researched 3 male Koala bears killed by cars. After that, they noticed those fingerprints are from the bears and Koala bears have fingerprints.

What do you know about Fibrodysplasia Ossificans Progressiva?

Fibrodysplasia Ossificans Progressiva

These days everyone considers their health. There are so many diseases in the world. Some are identified, and some are not recognized as a disease. Those identified diseases are divided into many categories. Some of them are; Psychological (by function or effect), Topographic (by bodily region or system), genetically and so on. When talking about genetic diseases, it can be caused by the change of one/multiple/combination genes. Some genetic disorders are Albinism, Angleman syndrome, Apert Syndrome, and Fibrodysplasia Ossificans Progressive. From this, let’s get to know about “Fibrodysplasia Ossificans Progressive,” or else known as “FOP.”

First, check the history of this disease. This disease is identified in the seventeenth century. Fibrodysplasia Ossificans Progressive was originally called Myositis Ossificans Progressiva. They thought the cause of this disorder is muscular inflammation that caused the establishment of the bone. In 1970 this was renamed by Victor A. McKusick. The most famous case is the case of Harry Eastlack. He died in 1973 due to FOP disorder six days before his 40th birthday. This patient never met another person in his lifetime because his body had utterly paralyzed, and he can use only his lips. After the death of the Eastlack, he wants to donate his body. Now his skeleton is at Mütter Museum in Philadelphia. Not only Harry, in 2019, another patient called Carol Orzel also presented his body and the skeleton for an exhibit for future learners.

Fibrodysplasia Ossificans Progressiva

Fibrodysplasia ossificans progressive is a genetic disorder caused because of the mutation of the gene called ACVR1. This mutation is also identified as “ALK2” (Activin- like Kinase 2). This disease affected the person’s repair mechanism of the body. And it is caused for fiber tissues, and the ACVR1 gene converts a BMP (Bone Morphogenic) receptor. And this is the gene that mutated the FOP disease. It is the one that responsible for the growth of bones and muscles. The usual mutation of the FOP will make R202H. Usually, most of the cases of Fibrodysplasia ossificans progressive results of the transformation of a new gene. Because of that, these kinds of people didn’t have proper histories that they have this kind of disease in their families. But in some cases, they will inherit this disease from the one who affected parent.

This disorder is a sporadic genetic disease. When someone suffering from this, that person’s body shows abnormal. The reason is their connective tissues, and muscle tissues (tendons and ligaments) are progressively change by bone and developing a bone outside of their skeleton. If someone creates a new bone from their body, it is called “Heterotopic ossification.” This Heterotopic ossification will cause for limit the ability to move their body.

Fibrodysplasia Ossificans can noticeable in their early childhood. Fibrodysplasia Ossificans Progressiva, also called FOP, Myositis Ossificans Progressiva, and Münchmeyer disease.

When talking about symptoms of FOP diseases, around 50% of patients suffered from abnormalities in toes and thumbs. The first clinical sign of Fibrodysplasia Ossificans Progressiva is congenital (Abnormal toes and thumbs at birth). Other things are:

  • Hallux Valgus(Abnormal inward turning of the great toe toward the other toes).
  • Macrodactyly (Abnormal short fingers and short toes).
  • Clinodactyly (permanent fixation of the fifth finger in a bent).
  • Cervical Vertebrae (Abnormal of the upper part of spinal)
  • The femur (Abnormal short, broad neck of the bone in the thigh that extends from the knee to the pelvis)

The first area that affected by Fibrodysplasia Ossificans Progressiva is the neck, back, chest, arms, and legs. In many cases, patients expressed that there were pain and difficulties in these areas. Finally, FOP diseases affect the hips, ankles, wrists, elbows, shoulders, jaws, and abdominal walls. In 2017, there were 800 cases of FOP diseases confirmed worldwide. As per the researchers, 0.5 cases per million people are suffering from this disease.

Check your health and stay safe.

let’s know about the secret of “Hiroshima Tricycle.”

Hiroshima Tricycle

PEACE AND WAR.

These words are very familiar to every man in the world. In history, there are so many wars. Not only that, but these days also there are wars. For that, they used bioweapons and nuclear weapons. In WW-I and WW-II, they used bioweapons to fulfill their expectations. Hiroshima Nagasaki is the war that memorable war that uses nuclear weapons. The United States of America set of two atomic weapons on the cities of Japan. One is Hiroshima and another one in Nagasaki. This incident happened on 6th and 9th August 1945. Due to this war, approximately 129000 and 226000 civilians were killed. The Hiroshima bombing happened on 6th August 1945. In August 1955, they built a Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum dedicated to providing evidence for the atomic bombing of Hiroshima. In this museum, there is a tricycle, and there is a sad story behind it. That tricycle is called “Hiroshima Tricycle” and also “Shin’s Tricycle.” Here is the story behind that.

In 1941, a boy was born in Hiroshima, Japan, and his name is Shinichi Tetsutani. He was the second child in the family, and he had two sisters called Michiko Tetsutani and Yoko Tetsutani. They are seven years old (Michiko), three years old (Shinichi), and one-year-old (Yoko). Their father’s name is Nobuo Tetsutani. They were living peacefully in their home and friendly with their neighbor. Three-year-old Shin had a friend called Kumiko, and she is his neighbor. Every day Shin played with Kumiko and shared a lot of stories with her. Not only that, Shin had picture books as well. Shin always want a tricycle, and he had only one picture; it’s in his picture book. Because of that, he showed every day and enjoyed that book. Because of WWII, in those days, there were no toys or cycle to buy. Even Shin wants a tricycle, the parents of Shin couldn’t purchase that for him. One day Shin’s uncle, who works as a sailor in the Japanese navy, visits their home. That day was a memorable day for the little kid Shin, and he owned the tricycle that he wants every day. His uncle brought it for him. After that, Shin has ridden a tricycle with his best friend Kumiko and enjoyed their small world.

On 6th August 1945, when Shin was three years old, he rode his pressures tricycle with his friend Kumiko in the backyard of their house. It was a beautiful day, and his father went the repair their house. After a couple of hours, something terrible thing happen. It was a bomb attack from the US. As per Shin’s father’s statements, that explosion was awful, and everything in that place becomes ash. After the explosion, Shin’s father was under the ceiling of his house. But he stands up to find his family members. Father found mother and Shin. At that movement, Kumiko left the world; because of that, he couldn’t save Kumi. Not only the friend of Shin, his two daughters, died in front of him, and at that time, he couldn’t do anything to help them. It was a shock for the father. That sadness becomes huge after the death of Shin. Even at the movement of his death, he was looking for his tricycle. Because of that, the father buried his daughters in one place, and Shin, Kumi, and his tricycle buried in one place. The reason was father didn’t want his second son to be alone.

Forty years later, his father Nobuo dug up Shin’s grave and transferred his remains to the family grave. Shin’s tricycle / Hiroshima Tricycle was donated to the “Peace Memorial Museum” museum to remember that the world should be a peaceful space where children can play and laugh. After presenting the tricycle to the museum, that tricycle was called as “Hiroshima tricycle.” Even it is Hiroshima Tricycle / Shin’s tricycle, that toy shows how bad war is.

Because of “Hiroshima Tricycle,”; Kodama Tatsuharu wants to publish a book to tell this story. In 1992, he published a children’s book called Shin’s Tricycle. In 1995, that book was translated into English.
